PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

After graduating from Koç University, Department of Business Administration in 2000, she joined PwC Turkey. Canan has provided tax advisory, merger acquisitions, tax audit, tax compliance and tax certification services to clients in the Energy, FMCG and Pharma sectors in particular. 

In 2005-2007, Canan joined the transfer pricing team at PwC Netherlands, Amsterdam office for a secondment programme. After returning to Turkey, she established Turkey’s first transfer pricing team and continued focusing on transfer pricing consultancy services at PwC Turkey’s Istanbul office. 

Canan has coordinated PwC’s global transfer pricing network in Belgium for the past four years. In this role, she assisted the strategic plans of worldwide network members in the fields of technology, marketing, service and sector diversity, human resources and training.  She hosted strategic leadership meetings and global transfer pricing conferences together with the selected leader.

EXPERTISE

With hundreds of international and domestic companies in her client portfolio, Canan’s experience in the field of transfer pricing includes documentation, planning, operational structuring (including automation and ERP/technology/software developments), comprehensive policy creation, transformation of intragroup flows, financial markets and banking transactions, hard to value intangibles, DEMPE analyses, transfer pricing dispute resolution including APAs and MAPs. For the last two years Canan has carried out projects on the analysis and restructuring of the relations of group companies in the field of sustainability and transparency regulations (i.e. ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).

Within the scope of her client portfolio and her network coordination studies, she established close contact with many tax administrations in the world (primarily Turkey, the Netherlands, Belgium). She has been an observer in the transfer pricing studies and meetings within the scope of the OECD’s BEPS project, has given opinions on issues awaiting interpretation and has recently taken part in the technical committees within the scope of BEPS-taxation of the digital economy action, namely global minimum taxation.
