In 2004, he started his career as a Customs Specialist as the Undersecretariat of Customs, General Directorate of Customs. For more than ten years, he worked in the departments related to “Valuation and Taxation” and in the Central Settlement Commission. During this period, he took an active role in the preparation of both the legislation and the regulations guiding the implementation of customs valuation and taxation issues. He also gave many trainings and seminars both in Turkey and abroad before the administration. He is the author of the customs expertise thesis titled “Transfer Pricing and Comparison with Customs Valuation”.
In 2015, he joined PwC Turkey Indirect Taxes Department as Manager and was promoted to Director in 2019. During his nine years at PwC Turkey, he advised hundreds of companies, especially the leaders of each sector, in all areas of customs and foreign trade.
During his tenure at the Ministry, Yurdakul took an active role in many regulations related to customs valuation. In particular, he has worked on many cases involving special issues such as royalty payments, customs dimension of transfer pricing practices, and the effects of invoicing outside the flow of goods between group companies on customs value. He also participated in the work before the World Customs Organization and closely followed the world practices on issues that often cause disputes. He finalized more than 50 applications within the Central Conciliation Commission.
Upon his transition to the private sector, he worked as a consultant in all areas of customs and foreign trade at PwC Turkey and provided consultancy services to large-scale, leading domestic and foreign companies in the Textile, Automotive, Chemical, Electronics and Food sectors, which are the most risky sectors within the framework of customs legislation and practices.
